When I discovered this week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe I was a little baffled and thought, “what the hell is rugelach?” After pondering this dessert for about 2 seconds I decided to bust out Dorie’s book, Baking: from My Home to Yours so I could enlighten myself. I immediately thought of the nut horns that I used to munch on as a child during the holidays. After skimming the ingredients, I was pleased to find out that I did not have to make my ceremonial grocery store run prior to my Sunday bake fest. I did not have any apricot preserves, so I used the raspberry that I had on hand from a previous recipe. I also added pecans, dried cranberries, and grated chocolate. Although I was not a huge fan of these, I thought they were fun to make and it was great to broaden my horizons to try something new. The boyfriend proclaimed them to be “bland” and not my best work! Eh to each their own, I am sure some TwD bloggers found these to be delicious! For this recipe head over to Piggy’s Cooking Journal, you can also check out more rugelach by visiting the TwD blogroll!

I’m sorry you guys didn’t love them but they look absolutely beautiful stacked up like that!
Love all your pictures. I liked the rugelach but it wasn’t my favorite dorie recipe. I think the filling leakage turned me off. HAHA. Sorry it wasn’t a favorite yours either but there’s always next week!

After all the good stuff you put in, I’m surprised he thought they were bland.
Oh well, everyone likes something different!
Well, even though they weren’t all that you hoped for in taste they photographed well. That first shot was a winner and as you said you learned something new!

Your rugelach looks perfect :)
I love your blog! It looks delicous!
Yours look great. Sorry you weren’t such a fan! I’m a fellow TWD baker, and I was thinking that it would be nice if we all could chip in and get Laurie some small token/gift for all the work she does. Would you be willing to contribute? If I can get enough people, it would only be about $1 per person. No pressure :-) Let me know! bethberg12@yahoo.com
WOW, Jamie! You must have circus talents to balance those in a pyramid!
