I have and always will be a seasonal kind of girl. Many of my favorite kitchen and food memories are often related to the seasons. From weekly summer trips to roadside farmers’ stands with my mom to rolling a gazillion pumpkin rolls in the fall with my Nana – these moments all have seasonal connections. Along with these strong connections with seasonal foods, also comes a strong connection with scents.
Each time the seasons change, I obsessively revamp household scents – from candles, plugins, and hand soaps – right down to my personal perfume. In my opinion, as soon as the calendar flips to September, I am in full on fall mode. Digging through the closet for cardigans and putting away my flip flops until spring.
Not only does it smell all kinds of scrumptious, it’ also highly fragranced, so you get a lot of bang for your buck. Brian came home from work while it was lit and questioned what was baking – when he saw a clean kitchen and me watching an episode of Cupcake Wars – he came to the realization that Salted Caramel Cupcakes were not in his immediate future – just a caramely scented living room.

Yes, mine is fresh baked apple cake with cinnamon streusel.
My sister gave me a pumpkin scented candle from Anthropologie for Christmas last year, and it was amazing. It came in a little metal tin, so when I used it all up, I put the tin in my car as an air freshener. It worked pretty well!
My absolute favorite: Slatkin & Co’s Autumn. It’s pure happiness. Also their Leaves and Creamy Pumpkin are delicious smelling!
I love the pumpkin one from the BBW. SOOO GOOOD. And they last so long too!
I got a cinnamon ginger scented candle from Target the other day that actually smells amazing! Some brand called Nature’s Wick – it has a wooden wick that crackles. Usually I think cheap Target candles smell, well…cheap, but I’m kind of in love with this one.
Hot Buttered Rum from Bath and Body Works. I’ve been told it’s part of their winter line, so I’m anxiously waiting =)
Ohhh I cant wait to head over there this weekend! I just went on their website and it appears they have a bunch of new scents… Marshmellow Fireside, Pumpkin Caramel Latte, S’mores, Cinnamon Sugared Donut… ohhhh my to many options LOL! Looks like they are having a 2/$10 sale tho ;)
I love the Macintosh scent by Yankee Candle. It is crisp and refreshing. I burn it all year! Can’t get enough of it!
Oh girl… you are straight after my own heart. I am such a nut over candles and B&B Works scents right now are driving me wild! I love the salty caramel and the s’mores, but please tell me you got the pumpkin caramel latte? I’m burning it right now and it smells like heaven!
Ha! I wrote this post last week and since then I have picked up 4 more! They were on sale – I can’t resist a sale! I got s’mores, apple crumble, caramel apple and marshmallow fireside! Clearly I need to add the pumpkin caramel latte to my collection! I am obsessed and glad to find a fellow addict!
Yes! I am totally the same way with the candles! I don’t even like pumpkin pie or apple cider, but I need to smell them all day, every day once fall hits.
