Wow, one year… one whole year I have been writing this blog! As I sit here typing, I am swaying in my chair and singing the lyrics to the 1990′s jam, “It’s Our Anniversary” by Tony! Toni! Toné!
However, I am replacing the word anniversary with blogoversary, because I am cool like that! It’s a damn good thing no one can see or hear me because I way waaay off key and the song in this context makes absolutely no sense!

For my blogoversary, I made The Pioneer Woman’s Italian Cream Cake, and let me tell you – this cake is fabulous!

If you follow me on twitter, you may remember my tweet about having a spoonful of this frosting for breakfast yesterday morning. I did omit the walnuts because Brian is allergic. Instead, I topping the cake with toasted coconut, and it is FAB!

For my blogoversary I wanted to put together a giveaway that would be comprised of some of my favorite things.

Pictured: Pinch bowls & Ice Cream Cone/Snow Cone Holders from Target
Giant Piping Tips and Cupcake Liners from Bake It Pretty (I love this little company!)
Pictured: Microplane and Silicone Spatula from Bed Bath and Beyond
Pictured: Mini Bundt Pans and Brownie Bite Pan by Wilton and purchased at Michael’s. Not pictured: an OXO Cherry Pitter from BB&B and a couple of small additions such as sprinkles and spoons…

    that's a pretty awesome-looking cake–the toasted coconut is a fabulous touch.
congrats on hitting a year! my goal? i guess that would be to challenge myself in the kitchen rather than going the safe route with muffins and loaves and bars, as i'm wont to do. :)

  2. Val says:

My goal is to make more time for myself.

I have been wanting to bake that cake since Ree first posted about it… And your picture of it is so… Tasty looking :O)

My goal for the next year is to learn how to sew with a sewing machine. It has been a desire of mine for a long time now (since I was a little girl), but I've stupidly never really made up my mind just to do it. And that just has to change this year. Not only would it save me a ton of money, I would feel like even MORE of a domestic goddess. I love LOVE LoVe to bake, but man oh man would I love to sew, too.

Congratulations on one whole year!!! You've come a long way! I hope my new little blog amounts to even half of what yours has :O)

Mmm I agree, that cake looks soo delicious. Making me hungry…

My goal in the next year is to find a job, but not neglect my true passion for art and hopefully find some way to get a sustainable income from doing what I love. Also to save up enough money to move out on my own and pay my own bills and be independent :)

One of my goals is to try to bake more homemade treats instead of the store bought ones with chemicals. Homemade is so much better for us:)

  8. Suzanne says:

I sadly have too many goals and too short of an attention span. My kitchen goal is to churn (and eat) my way through Lebovitz' The Perfect Scoop. Life goal is to get into grad school.
