I’ll admit it – I am a cookbook hoarder. I have loads of them perfectly lined up on bookshelves in my office. Truth be told, though, I rarely pull them down from the shelves. Although I still love having actual cookbooks, I’m on the internet a lot, so I primarily use the web for recipe ideas.

While many of the cookbooks in my collection haven’t seen the light of day in a while, I have a few standouts that I’ve been reading before bed and using to find cooking and baking inspiration. And since I’ve been using my slow cooker like it’s my j-o-b to repeatedly make the same 4 recipes, I’m definitely in need of a little dinner inspiration.

I’m sure it’s not shocking that there are several blogger books on my list – and each one is totally amazing! Enough rambling now, here are my current Top 10 Cookbooks! (In no particular order…)

1. Mini Donuts by Jessica Segarra of The Novice Chef. Mini Donuts? What’s not to love? Must Try Recipe: Rocky Road Mini Donuts

2. Ready for Dessert by David Lebovitz. David’s recipes are expertly written and this book continues to be one of my faves for baking inspiration. Must Try Recipe: Guiness-Gingerbread Cupcakes.

3. Classic Snacks Made from Scratch by Casey Barber of Good Food Stories. Homemade versions of your favorite snack food – how can that possibly be a bad thing? Must Try Recipe: Homemade Mallo Cups

4. Perfect One Dish Dinners by Pam Anderson of Three Many Cooks. I LOVE this book for dinner inspiration – it actually stays in my kitchen at all times. Must Try Recipe: Coq au Vin Blanc

5. The Recipe Girl Cookbook by Lori Lange of Recipe Girl Lori’s approachable style of cooking and baking will quickly make this cookbook one of your faves! Must Try Recipe: Cinnamon Roll Pancakes

6. Savory Sweet Life: 100 Simply Delicious Recipes for Every Family Occasion by Alice Currah of Savory Sweet Life. I adore this cookbook almost as much as I adore Alice. Must Try Recipe: Chocolate Chip Cookies

7. The Picky Palate Cookbook by Jenny Flake of Picky Palate Delicious, approachable recipes with gorgeous photos – it’s what every cookbook should be! Must Try Recipe: Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies

8. Baking: From My Home To Yours by Dorie Greenspan. This is the book that reignited by love for baking – it’s my most used and definitely most loved. Must Try Recipe: The Perfect Party Cake

9. Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics by Ina Garten. I am a huge fan of Ina’s and this book focuses on delicious, elegant food with simple ingredients – which is pretty much cookbook perfection! Must Try Recipe: Easy Sticky Buns

10. Desserts in Jars: 50 Sweet Treats that Shine by Shaina Olmanson of Food For My Family. I’m pretty much a sucker for anything baked or presented in a jar, so Shaina’s book quickly became one of my faves! Must Try Recipe: Flourless Chocolate Cake

Tell me, what’s your favorite cookbook?

I like to collect old church cookbooks. My favorite is from the 1930’s and contains lots of breads and cakes.

I simply is not possible to have only one favourite cook book! I collect them the same way I collect my stash of quilting fabrics and knitting yarns! However, one I always come back to time and time again is my good old standby Better Homes & Gardens 1970-something edition that my Mom gave me as a wedding present 33 years ago :)

My favorite cookbook is usually the one I bought most recently. Yesterday I picked up “One Pan, Two Plates” and it has some recipes that sound perfect for dinner (there are only 3 of us living at home now). I’m also loving “Plenty” and anything by Ina Garten. For baking, any of the 3 “Baked” cookbooks are the BEST.

I’m like you and have a very large collection of cookbooks (I’m a former Home Ec teacher) that I rarely use these days. Now that I’m retired I am obsessed with internet recipes. I have more than I will ever use, but I love collecting them. Now I need some ideas on how to organize them :)

I can’t really pin down one favorite cookbook, but the one I use the most is Super Natural Everyday by Heidi Swanson from 101 Cookbooks. Her White Bean Spread is probably the most often repeated recipe in my kitchen.
I recently posted something similar, featuring the cookbooks that have made and held the place of honor in my kitchen. The one book that has survived move after move and purge after purge is Deborah Madison’s Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone. It has served me well.
I made those Cinnamon Roll Pancakes from Recipe Girl a while back and they are absolutely amazing.
I love your blog and thanks for this post-I’ve got some new titles to add to my library wish list.

Chloe’s Vegan Desserts by Chloe Coscarelli is by current go to for sweets right now! Love everything I’ve ever done out of there. I call myself a cookbook COLLECTOR (vs. hoarder =D) and keep them in pretty piles and such in a hutch in my kitchen. I use most of them some, but I do love to look at them. LOL I have all of Ina’s and all of Giada DeLaurentiis’. My other heavily used one is Martha Stewart Baking for all of the breads in it.

I have so many cookbooks I love but my absolute favorites are Dorie Greenspans ‘Around My French Table’ and every one of the series of Junior League cookbooks published by the Denver Junior League; some of my best dishes were inspired by people right here in Denver.

It’s good to know that I’m not the only cookbook hoarder. :-)
Right now I’m crushing on the Brown Betty Cookbook. It’s wonderful and full of delicious cake recipes.
