Easy Peach Cobbler requires almost no prep time and only uses 4 ingredients! Using canned peaches and cake mix, this is one of the easiest cobblers you can make.
Every once in a while, I come across a recipe that I’m almost embarrassed to share with you because it’s just too simple.
My step-mom called me a couple of weeks ago asking if I had a recipe for peach cobbler made with Bisquick.
If you follow along here pretty regularly, you might know that I have a recipe for Homemade Bisquick, Bisquick Pancakes and even Bisquick Biscuits, but no Bisquick Peach Cobbler.
She was making Peach Cobbler for a friend and ended up trying a bunch of recipes before she called me with this one. And when I say it’s easy, I mean it – the assembly might take you three minutes!
When she raved about how good it was, I had to test it for myself and ended up making 2 times in less than a week.
EASY PEACH COBBLER WITH CANNED PEACHES AND CAKE MIX
I am not going to pretend this is a secretly sophisticated recipe. It’s not.
But what it IS is completely delicious.
There is totally a time and a place for crisps and cobblers made with fresh fruit and homemade toppings, like Fresh Cherry Cobbler and Old Fashioned Apple Crisp.
There are also times when you find out that company is coming over about 20 minutes before they show up and you need to make a dessert fast. That’s when you dig out this Easy Peach Cobbler recipe.
This recipe uses exactly 4 ingredients:
- Canned peaches,
- Cinnamon,
- Yellow cake mix, and
- Melted butter
That’s it. Again, it’s almost embarrassing to admit. It’s basically a dump cake, like apple dump cake or strawberry dump cake.
I almost felt silly sharing this recipe with you, but then I remembered that I can have this cobbler ready to go in the oven in less time than it takes my oven to preheat. And I’ve totally shared it with neighbors and they had no idea that it was made with canned peaches and cake mix.
There are a lot of different types of cobbler recipes out there. Cobblers with biscuit toppings like Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler. Cobblers with pie crust toppings like Mixed Berry Cobbler.
This one is more like a cake in texture, but still very much a cobbler.
Honestly…just try it. You won’t have any regrets.
HOW TO MAKE EASY PEACH COBBLER
This recipe is super easy to make, but there are a few instructions that make a big difference.
Drain 1 can of peaches, but leave the other 2 undrained. You need the syrup in the pan to help the cake mix bake up right.
Sprinkle the cinnamon over the peaches. Sprinkle the dry cake mix directly over everything and lightly press the mix into the peaches and syrup.
Yes, I know this sounds weird. But I promise, it works! If you’ve made my Pumpkin Crunch Cake, this is the same method for that recipe.
Then drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix and pop the pan into the oven.
I can’t tell you how or why (other than #science), but everything works out in the oven. After an hour, you’ll have a totally delicious peach cobbler that you spent almost no energy making.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes you just need a no-effort dessert.

I make this with a can of crushed pineapple and cherry pie filling. A yellow cake mix and butter squares. We call it a dump cake. But- I love to also add coconut and chopped pecans on the fruit and the cake mix then butter. It is to die for!ย

@Jullie, We love dump cake!! It’s easy & delicious too.
Could you use fresh peaches?
Hello! You really need the syrup from the canned peaches in order for the cake mix to bake up properly, so I have not been able to find a way to make this recipe using fresh peaches. Hope this helps!
Jamie
@Jamie,
You could make your own syrup like by boiling down the fresh peaches with a little water and sugar. My gma made it like that and the topping was 1 cup each of self rising flour, sugar and buttermilk…omg delicious. I’m making this next weekend for fathers day
It’s peach season here. How many peaches (or in weight) should I substitute for the cans? Should I precook the peaches a little? Thank you! Love your recipes!
Hello! This recipe is actually made to be used with canned peaches โ you need the syrup from the canned peaches for the cake mix to bake up correctly. I have a peach crisp recipe that uses fresh peaches that you might like: https://www.mybakingaddiction.com/peach-crisp/
Happy baking!

I have lots of frozen peaches but no canned ones. Do you have any recipes with frozen peaches?

โDump Cake!โ Been making this since the 60โs. Canned cherry pie filling is another hit. We used white cake mix occasionally. (The original recipe called for sliced almonds scattered on top; but we never did that). Super easy dessert – try it!ย

I cant find peaches in heavy syrup anymore will light syrup work??
Hello! I haven’t attempted this recipe with this substitution, so I am not sure of the result. If you happen to give it a try, I’d love to know how it turned out. Thanks so much for stopping by.

To Sharon: I have used peaches in their juice (not heavy). Put a little of the juice in a measuring cup and mix a tsp of cornstarch into the juice and set this aside. In a sauce pan put your two cans of peaches and juice and bring to a boil. Stir in the cornstarch and juice and stir until thickened. Combine this with the one drained can of peaches and proceed with the rest of the recipe.
