This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe for Cinnamon Squares was chosen by Tracey of Tracey’s Culinary Adventures. I love cinnamon, but something about a cinnamon and chocolate combination does not go over well with me. I left the decision up to the boyfriend; he ended up choosing cream cheese frosting over the chocolate from the recipe. Cream cheese frosting is his favorite, so I do not even know why I bothered to ask his opinion…I think he would eat it dolloped on a pickle. I also left out the espresso powder because I did not have any on hand. This cake came together with ease, baked up beautifully in 47 minutes. Once the cake was cooled to room temperature I slathered on the cream cheese frosting and placed it in the fridge overnight. After cutting the cake, I was pleased to see that my cinnamon and chocolate swirl did not sink to the bottom as some TwD members stated in the P&Q. Overall, we though this cake was delicious, I would love to try adding chopped apples to the batter. The cream cheese frosting was an amazing addition to this cake, and I will definitely be making this again!

Wow, that's a great variation of the Cinnamon Squares! I love both chocolate and cream cheese frostings – yours looks soo tasty!
The chocolate frosting was great, but cream cheese sounds pretty good too. Your squares look lovely!
Wow I bet the cream cheese frosting was delicious!
Thanks for baking with me this week! Your photos are gorgeous, as always! I came this close to frosting my cupcakes with cream cheese frosting but I got lazy at the last minute and just slathered the chocolate on there. I’ll probably try cream cheese frosting next time so I’m glad to hear it was good!
I like the idea of the cream cheese frosting! Yours looks fantastic!
What a cute fork! I missed this week, but I think the cream cheese frosting sounds like a great combo with the cinnamon.
Cream cheese icing – great addition! Your photos are lovely. Glad you enjoyed.
I’m actually going to give this one a try and NOT put it off. :) I have to admit that unlike yourself and your BF I think cinnamon makes chocolate better though your idea of adding cream cheese frosting has me wondering.
Cute, you and em have the same little forks. :)

I love cream cheese frosting, too, and the combo sounds delightful.
